About Elim Spain

The Elim Pentecostal Church is a growing Movement of more than 550 Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland. Through its International Missions department we reach all the continents across the world.

Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.

Pastor George Thomas started the Elim work in Spain in the 1930s but he had to leave at the start of the Spanish Civil War. It was in the 1980s that Elim reaching into Spain again with Elim Missionaries going to Figueres in the Province of Girona, north east Spain, in 1981. Through evangelism, home groups and prison work a church was founded. The first short term Euroteam visited in 1982 when young people went to encourage and support the work through evangelism.

The denomination of Elim España was formed in 1995 and officially registered in February 2009 as Federacion Elim Pentecostal. There are now four churches located at Figueres, Girona, Benalmadena and a church plant from the Girona church at Palafrugell. John Knox is President of Elim España.

In a world that can feel like a desert, our 21st-century churches seek to be a place of spiritual resource within their communities.

Elim churches in Spain are part of Elim's Internation Missions department, and work in various centres across Spain. Have a look at the other pages in this website for more information about our work.
