Elim Girona

The Girona church was planted by the Figueres church in the early 1990s.

In the beginning the church met in a converted office on the third floor and in 2000 there were nine registered members and an average attendance of 20-25 each week. It soon became apparent that the location was restricting growth and in 2002 the meetings were transferred to a converted shop.

By 2006 Sunday attendance had exploded to 200 and it was obvious that more space was needed. In 2008 brand new warehouses on the edge of town were identified and in 2009 the church moved to the new location which can seat 300 plus Sunday School and youth rooms. The building work is not yet complete and continues as finances permit.

The growth of the church is exciting as more people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Pastors: Rev.John & Valerie Knox

All meetings are in Spanish

About Elim Spain

The Elim Pentecostal Church is a growing Movement of more than 550 Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland. Through its International Missions department we reach all the continents across the world.

Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.

Pastor George Thomas started the Elim work in Spain in the 1930s but he had to leave at the start of the Spanish Civil War. It was in the 1980s that Elim reaching into Spain again with Elim Missionaries going to Figueres in the Province of Girona, north east Spain, in 1981. Through evangelism, home groups and prison work a church was founded. The first short term Euroteam visited in 1982 when young people went to encourage and support the work through evangelism.

The denomination of Elim España was formed in 1995 and officially registered in February 2009 as Federacion Elim Pentecostal. There are now four churches located at Figueres, Girona, Benalmadena and a church plant from the Girona church at Palafrugell. John Knox is President of Elim España.

In a world that can feel like a desert, our 21st-century churches seek to be a place of spiritual resource within their communities.

Elim churches in Spain are part of Elim's Internation Missions department, and work in various centres across Spain. Have a look at the other pages in this website for more information about our work.

Elim Benalmadena, Spain, was birthed in 2003 by Howard and Sue Coley, initially meeting in a hotel in Benalmadena ministering to the English-speaking community. Their vision has since grown and the Elim Family Fellowship in Benalmadena now has a building to meet in each Sunday and a place for community activities midweek. Dave Hodgson is assisting Howard and Sue and helping them as they work together to see a healthy vibrant church in Spain reaching out to those who need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
